Buford Youth Football Association (BYFA) is a participating member of GFL Sports, Inc, and as a participating member all coaches, players and spectators must adhere to the code of conduct set forth by GFL Sports, Inc.
GFL Sports is a recreational youth age-based football and cheerleading program serving residents of Gwinnett County and surrounding areas. Gwinnett County is located in the Northeast Metro Atlanta area. The GFL is currently comprised of 19 member associations that closely mirror the Gwinnett County school cluster map.
Registration Information
BYFA only offers in-person registration. There will be two or three sign-up dates. Please refer to the calendar page for dates, times and locations. Please realize we adhere to GFL Sports, and once the registration period is over, there is no guarantee late applicants will be accepted. For registration fees, we accept: cash, checks or credit/debit cards.
Registration Fees
Players enrolled in Buford City Schools - $300.00
Returning players not enrolled in Buford City Schools - $350.00
New players not enrolled in Buford City Schools - $550.00
Spirit Fee
All players are required to pay a mandatory $100.00 spirit fee in addition to registration fees. This spirit fee will go towards your player's individual team funds to be used throughout the season. Teams MAY NOT request additional monetary funds from parents during the season.
Player Certification
Each player is required to be certified by GFL to compete during the season. Player certification includes age verification and a current calendar year sports physical.
Physicals must be on file for your player to participate in any GFL activity. NO faxed, photo copied or emailed physicals will be accepted. Physicals must be dated on or after January 1st of the current year. Physicals must be completed on the GFL physical form.
Age vertification will be completed with National Sports ID. More details will be provided during the registration process.
BYFA Player Pack
BYFA will provide each player with: game jersey, compression shirt and athletic shorts.
Equipment Not Provided
Each player is responsible for providing: helmet (must be Vegas gold with a green face mask), chin strap, shoulder pads, pant pads, practice pants, game pants (must be Vegas gold), practice jersey, socks and cleats.
Practice Information
All age groups will practice at the Buford Youth Sports Complex except for 8th grade. 8th grade will practice at Buford High School.
For the first two weeks, practice will be 5 days a week (M-F) for 2 hours. Once school starts, practice will be 3 nights a week (M, T and Th) for 90 minutes. Weather could shuffle practice days and times.
Practice times vary by age group. We try to control traffic flow and get the younger age groups finished first. Practices could start as early as 5:15 pm to 5:30 pm and the late practices could start around 7:15 pm to 7:30 pm.
